Although we have been sailing for many years, it remains a great personal and team challenge to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
We have successfully sailed the first part of the Transquadra race last summer between Le Lorient and Madeira, and have been preparing and practicing ever since. So we are ready and confident for this final stage, hoping for the best weather conditions and merciful waters!
Marc and myself will be in constant contact with the support on the ground, reporting on our daily whereabouts and progress! On our way to the exotic Martinique we'll have to challenge ourselves and battle against other participants, meanwhile relying on our loyal Propaganda 2! sailing boat/compagnon to carry us across the Ocean safely!
Refitting our 30-year old boat with the latest computer and communication technology, including advanced composite materials, has been mostly made possible thanks to our sponsors Alterface and Mikol.
We are very pleased to dedicate this crossing and efforts to two noble causes: ZachteKracht and Handicap International. Read more in the attached releases and we'd like to appeal on your goodwill to contribute and actively participate in both campaigns:
Sailing for YOUth fundraising campaign of 2500 nautical miles during Transquadra crossing
Team Propaganda Sails Handicap International across Atlantic during Transquadra
Winnie Berteloot, Chairman and Treasurer of ZachteKracht: “It is a great pleasure that Benoit with Team Propaganda supports our organisation by sponsoring the nautical miles they will cross during the Transquadra race. It will enable ZachteKracht to provide meaningful and powerful sailing trips to over 200 young people in problematic situations during the following sailing season!"
Jean Van Wetter, General Manager at Handicap International: “We are very thankful to Benoit Cornet for wearing our colours and new logo across the Atlantic Ocean, as we share similar values of team spirit, solidarity and surpassing oneself. Our teams work tirelessly alongside disabled and vulnerable people to help meet their basic needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights."
Thanks for your on-going support and you'll be hearing from us very soon again - follow our adventures on this blog and on facebook @Propaganda Sailing Team.
With warm sailing regards,
